Since about the beginning of November, I’ve been getting pains in my left hand, mostly right where the hand bends. It is in my right too at times, but it’s worse in the left. However, in the past, I have had problems with my knees and lower back hurting where they bend, on the joints. I’m a 16 year old girl, and I’ve probably had those knee pains since I was about 12. Does anyone think that could be a possibility, or do you think it is something else?
I’m 5 feet tall and about 118 pounds, if that helps.

No one can diagnose you but a doctor.

If you are overweight, that would definitely broaden the list of things it could be.

If you aren’t, it could still be growing pains, weak bones, arthritis, strains from physical activity, and sure, maybe juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

No-one can tell you that. There’s a few things it could be, but only your doctor can tell you for sure. The sooner you see them, the sooner you can get it sorted out.

Obviously you are concerned. JRA is one of forms of Arthritis that diagnosis seems to be missed by the Medical Profession. Therefore I suggest you see your Doc. Good Luck

Well hon, the best advice I can give you is to go see a DR. You are definitely not overweight, it possibly could be arthritis. But, I sure am not a Dr. Please go see your Dr. That is your best bet. As for growing pains, it`s been a long time ago, but I believe I had quit hurting by the age of 16. Either way, PLEASE get yourself to the doc. Good luck!!!
