He is 46 and it came on suddenly. He really suffers with it. The doc put him on Enbrol?? It’s a weekly injection. We are waiting for it to be shipped to us so he can begin. I can’t help but wonder if there are other options? There is another med he can’t take because he has FLD.Anyone have alternative remedies that may help?

  1. Leo says:

My wife has issues with arthritis. She started going to a chiropractor. It was after all the meds had been tried and not much was helping.

I always thought chiropractic was witch-doctory…but I have since started going too. Give it a shot…low risk, potentially benefitting.

move to a warm place like alberta

Well, I’ve started using Tylenol Arthritis for the arthritis in my hip and it works wonders. Kinda like Vicodin but on a smaller and less dramatic scale.

An extract of marijuana that does not make users “high” blunted the attack of rheumatoid arthritis in mice, scientists are reporting, suggesting a possible new weapon against the crippling disease that affects more than 2 million Americans.
The substance is called cannabidiol, one of about 80 ingredients of marijuana. But it doesn’t have any mind-altering properties, making it potentially easier to develop as a drug in today’s legal environment, the researchers said.

Here are some ideas, all of which together will alleviate the pain and discomfort:

–on a daily basis, take one tablespoon of an omega-rich
oil like flax or cod liver. It is anti-inflammatory.

–on a daily basis, take at least a quarter teaspoon of
cinnamon. It contains chemicals that are also
    anti-inflammatory.

–on a daily basis, do some lite exercise, like gardening
housecleaning, working on the car, shopping . . .
Keeping your body in a constant state of movement will
really fight off the progressive nature of rheumatism,
and will also alleviate current symptoms.

–if you and your husband can work your way up to it, then
go to a yoga class. In this case, it is the best way to
    fight/alleviate the symptoms.

–green tea or yerba mate tea. These, when fresh brewed,
contain complex chemicals that ward off the damage due
to rheumatism, and slow the progression of future damage.
Drink them on a daily basis.

–Chondroiton and glucosamine. These have not been proven
effective in people who do not suffer from rheumatism,
but they have been shown to have mild therapeutic effects
in people who have advanced rheumatoid arthritis.

You must do these things on a daily basis. Give it a few weeks and you will feel a change.

Best of luck to both of you, and I hope you post a follow up question, just to let us know how both of you are doing.

Damage by free radicals is a major component of most chronic degenerative disease, including automimmune diseases like RA. Strong anti-oxidants will help the condition over the long term.

Pharmaceutical grade fish oil (the DHA component), natural vitamin E, vitamin C as magnesium ascorbate, mixed flavenoids like grape seed extract are what you are looking for.

You need to be on the proper diet. No junk food. No processed food. No sugar, flour, vegetable oil. Definitely no aspartame or MSG. All these things are strong sources of free radicals and will play havoc with the disease. Eat a “mediteranean diet”. Low fat meats and especially fish. Lots of vegetables. Low amount of grains. Drink nothing but pure water that has been filtered via reverse osmosis. Best to get a reverse osmosis filter (expensive) and hook it up to your tap. This is to avoid the plastic that seeps out of the packaging into bottled water. If you can’t or won’t do that, use hard plastic bottled water like what you get when you have water delivered to your house in those 10 gallon jugs.

Anyway. Doing all of that will help tremendously. But, you still need to get medical treatment. RA is DANGEROUS. You don’t screw around by going untreated. If you do, the consequences could be disfigurement, serious disease, even death. Maintain a close treatment relationship with your rheumatologist.

Try MSM it helped me with my arthritis and I strained my muscles in my back. it repaired and took the pain away. Also my hands don’t hurt any more. I am not saying it is a cure, but it can’t hurt while you are waiting for your meds to come in. Health food store will have it. I took MSM with Melatonin and that is a product that relaxes the body and muscles to help one sleep. Together they worked. Give it a try what have you got to loose except the pain.

Rumalaya – it works! It can be applied as
a cream and there is an internal form in
caplet form; both can be taken at the same
time. Manufactured by the Himalaya Drug Company
(a traditional Ayurvedic product of India, the
land where much more originated than is generally
    thought in the west…)
