One Response to “Is rheumatoid arthritis a side effect of thyroidectomy and/or the thyroid replacement hormone?”
  1. Chocolate Chip Meringue says:

From everything I’ve read, neither cause rheumatoid arthritis. But since rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease (where your body attacks itself), there is also the likelihood that you have or will have other autoimmune diseases, and Hashimotos Disease is another one. Hashi’s is the body’s attack on the thyroid, and treatment is with thyroid replacment. If you need information on Hashi’s, here’s a good page: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/hashimotos
